WATER SANITATION AND HYGIENE

SUA’s leadership in water resource management contributes to environmental sustainability and improved quality of life. The University promotes efficient water use, clean supply, and sanitation solutions through applied research, capacity building, and innovation.

SUA hosts the UNESCO Chair in Ecohydrology and Transboundary Water Management, a regional platform for advancing research and policy dialogue on water and ecosystem conservation. The University also offers programmes in Hydrology, Hydrogeology, Irrigation and Water Resources Management, preparing professionals who address Tanzania’s pressing water challenges.

Long-term initiatives such as the SOIL Water Research Group have deepened understanding of soil–water interactions, irrigation efficiency, and catchment conservation. Through partnerships and community outreach, SUA promotes water-smart practices that improve agricultural productivity and sanitation standards – contributing to Clean Water and Sanitation.
